In everything it does the ACLM regards patient safety as its top concern.  Second to that is patient confidentiality and so we will always strive to adhere to all requirements in the General Data Protection Regulations 2018.  Our customers are optical businesses and we only communicate with the general public in response to questions posed by individuals.

 

Information collected

All information we collect is by legitimate means and, on the whole, provided by you the patient, consumer or practitioner.  The sort of information we collect is:

  • Registration (contact) information

  • Payment information (where you purchase products or services from us)

  • Log data from when you use our website or order forms

  • Account settings

  • Device and browser data

 

Using information

We use your information to:

  • Fulfil contractual responsibilities

  • Answer your questions

  • Keep you informed of changes to our products and services

  • Keep you informed of safety issues

Sharing information

We do not share your personal information or data except to fulfil your orders.  We may share general information with optical partners on a very occasional basis and with high levels of confidentiality and best practice.  We never share financial information (except with the banking system to fulfil your orders).

Data retention

We do not retain any identifiable payment card information once it has been processed, but we do keep bank details if you have a direct debit in place.  Once you cancel a direct debit (and assuming your account is clear) we delete your bank details.

Your rights

The rights which you are entitled to are:

  • Right to restrict processing
  • Right of Rectification
  • Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten)
  • Right to object to processing
  • Right to withdraw consent; and
  • Data portability rights

 

To make a Subject Access Request you will need to provide adequate proof of identity such as a (certified) copy of your passport, birth certificate or driving licence before your request can be processed.

If at any time you wish your contact details to be deleted we will do so, provided you confirm that there are no products or services still owed by us to you, and so long as it is not information we are required to retain for tax or legal reasons.
